I feel that the EGT's are a fleck too high. From a rolling start, foot to the floor, lifting to shift, I will see a tad over 1400*f at 4500 in 4th, and it will go along to climb when I shift into 5th. I've never ran it over 1500* - I'yard afraid that bad things volition happen. ;)

Under normal driving, at cruising speed, with ambient temps in the eighty's, A/C on, the EFT'south volition well-nigh mirror the mph if yous add together an 0 to the mph i.e. 75 mph is 750 to 800*F.

At the minimum cut the muffler out and replace it with a directly pipe. Y'all won't fifty-fifty notice information technology'south gone and should help EGT's some. A couple other things to cheque

Injection timing - brand certain it'southward in spec
VNT actuator - make certain information technology is adapted properly/moves smoothly. Your boost valve maintains the 18 psi you have it set at which indicates it is working properly, but worth a cheque.

I've got PP502's (bigger than your PP520's) and RC2 (less than your RC3) and I'one thousand guessing that my EGT'due south are non as loftier as yours (have my EGT mail turbo). I've done 5th gear WOT pull to 130MPH and EGT'southward were ~1200F postal service turbo. They were under 1000F in 4th.

I tin see 1200F in a thirty-85 (3rd and 4th gear) with Sprints and RC2. Its kinda hot here though, 95F.

I've got a bigger downpipe and a directly pipe for an exhaust. On a full pull to fifth gear 100mph+ I won't run into temps become much over 700 degrees C (not certain what that is in F - I imagine effectually 1150/1200?) and this is with a mighty turbo every bit well.

I see most 1200 degrees in a pull to well-nigh 90 mph with 27 psig. 14-1500 isn't uncommon with a smaller turbo like that. The exhaust volition definitely help. Across that the only things that are going to assistance are reducing fuel (and operation) or increasing the turbine size (larger turbo)

Information technology'southward already been mentioned, but I'll 2nd the downpipe / true cat-delete method. (There are plenty of options out in that location from diverse tuners, obviously the JSP 2.5" Stainless Downpipe is the one I'm running on my TDI with great results).

On a pull from 20mph to 130mph, I would be hard pressed to run across over 1200F post-turbo, on a VNT15. Cruising on the highway at "normal" speeds (80mph ish) I maintain most 500-600F with the prowl-control on. I typically run out of road earlier my EGT's fifty-fifty start to come into play.

Typically when I am consulting customers on upgrading their TDI'southward an exhaust upgrade is mentioned now inside the outset minute of the conversation. :)

I wounld worry near information technology. Mine can reach 1600 easy in the summer and my turbo has lasted over 100,000 miles. I have ran my car over 1600 more than a few times as long as y'all dont stay at that place long information technology wont injure annihilation unless your turbo is worn out.

Thank you guys, that'due south what I was thinking (at the minimum, a bigger, less restrictive frazzle and if possible, a larger turbo).

The mods for this year are pretty much washed (at least the mods that volition require ownership new stuff ;) ) 'crusade I have some mods that I need to do to the house before winter that will take the better office of Sept., Oct., and possibly into Nov. before they are done.

I'll put the exhaust and turbo on the wish list for side by side year.

Your numbers seem fine. I run into 600-800 on the highway with a similar setup merely a 2.5" downpipe and exhaust. Hills get me over g degrees, and a hard pull in 4th to redline will peg the gauge at 1650. In my Golf with a 10mm pump (11mm in the Jetta) and Sprint 442s instead of the PP357s in the Jetta I didn't run across over 1450 with some VERY hard running at NHIS.

Moral of the story: If you want lower EGTs, reduce fueling or increase airflow. Or both.

What's sustained? On straights at the track I get to 1400-1500, but for about 30-45 seconds. But that's repeated every infinitesimal or two for a one-half-hr. The car hasn't shown any sick effects yet, simply I wonder...
